The Position

Our Client is a fast growing operation which provides both scheduled passenger services and VIP/Business charter flights.  We’ve already recruited Pilots and Ground Engineers for them this year and our Customer has now asked if we’ll secure their new Head of Safety.  The position is based in Nigeria and our Client prefers to hear from Candidates with a strong career background in JAA/JAR OPS Safety procedures and systems.

Outline Responsibilities

• Manage, administer, maintain and oversee all aspects of the Company’s safety programmes.
• Identify, analyze and develop improvements in safety, security, productivity, client relationships and customer service.
• Ensure that each employee receives proper safety training commensurate with the job responsibilities assigned and that all training is properly documented and maintained in safety training files.
• Conduct new-hire and recurrent safety training according to Company and Client requirements.
• Communicate effectively with management, employees and clients to ensure the fulfilment of safety performance requirements.
• Lead employee safety briefings; attend meetings, conference calls, crew briefings etc.
• Review operations to determine if processes need re-engineering: Process improvements and/or Training – skills, knowledge, awareness, understanding
• Ensure that Safety Audits are conducted and complete relevant reports in a timely fashion. 
• Ensure front-line employee compliance with Company and Client safety policies, procedures and standards
• Take responsibility for all activities involving safety and security - and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Conduct observations, inspections, audits, and investigations, reviews/analyzes data and documentation
• Conduct accident investigations and prepare relevant accident reports and participate in accident review boards with Company and Client representatives.  
• Maintain all records related to safety and security as required
• Help instil a culture of safety and security - and deliver measurable results
• Bring familiarity and knowledge about standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the aviation Industry’s safety and security areas.
• Rely on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job as well as experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Who will our Client hire?

A Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, is preferred

Minimum three years experience dealing with safety issues at a Senior level

Previous safety management experience

Excellent client relationship management skills

Excellent leadership abilities including effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Ability to perform well under stress/effectively interface with employees at all levels
