The first decade of the 21st century certainly tested the aviation industry and now, in 2010, we continue to address the impact of increased security and environmental issues on passengers, staff and budgets. I began working in aviation recruitment back in 1991, so have witnessed quite a few developments over the last 20 years. Whatever the world throws at us, the aviation industry comes back fighting - and always stronger than before. I’m confident that the next 10 years will answer everyone’s needs for air travel, with wider access to affordable flights, scheduled carriers which offer effective travel solutions (including private taxi connections for their business travellers) and more owner operations for the super rich. Aviation first made its imprint on the world 100 years ago and here we are, a century later, the people who carry that legacy of the pioneers forward into its second 100 years. I think they would be rather amazed and very proud of how we’ve developed the fledgling industry they entrusted to us.

My name is Carol Poole, and as Accounts Co-ordinator I’m first point of contact for any finance enquires. I’m married to Steve & have 2 sons, John (21) & Michael (16). John continues to develop his skills as a newly qualified Painter & Decorator, whilst Michael is in his final year of Secondary school, studying for his end of school exams this summer’. He has his sights on going to College in the autumn, to study for a Degree in Motor Mechanics. Music still plays a great part in my husband Steve’s life and we’re holding the 2010 ‘Festival of Music’, which we hope will raise even more than the £4,000.00 we raised last year. The event is held in memory of our dear friend and musician Al Tait who lost his fight with prostate cancer. The proceeds raised are donated to our local hospice http://www.cransleyhospice.org.uk/

From an engineering background, I have been a management consultant for almost 30 years.  During that time, my contracts have ranged to just about every industrial sector from making plastic buckets to installing machines for growing grass in the Borneo jungle.  With extensive experience inside the public sector and local government (I was Leader of our Local Council for 5 years) I’ve also consulted for the police, fire brigade and prison services.  I am enthusiastic about small business and have been a Director of a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation, helping small businesses succeed.  At BettsHRC I find the enthusiasm infectious and love the pace at which the Team works.  Attention to detail and the drive for continuous improvement are attributes I have found almost impossible to attain in other companies but at Betts they permeate the whole ethos of the company.  It is a pleasure to be part of it. 

Betts Recruitment partners with Oriak Digital, an innovative Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre which offers a range of services to corporate clients. Oriak’s MD, Francesca Albon Kairo and Fiona have been friends and Business partners for over 20 years so, when Francesca emigrated to Kenya and established Oriak, it was an obvious decision for Betts to rely on her Team for all its database research, entry and management services. Now with two young sons, Francesca juggles the demands of family life with running a very successful business.

Oriak’s Team Supervisor Phillip Okinda does an excellent job of co-ordinating all our work with Oriak, often responding to any urgent requests we might make overnight. He was among the first employees of Oriak Digital when it was established in 2006. Phillip has vast experience in data processing, having been in the BPO industry for 3 years now. Currently, he is pursuing a Diploma in Management of Information Systems. An active member of his church youth group, Phillip participates in various activities which empower the youth spiritually, socially and economically.
